Supporting our community

We provide many services to enhance the lives of our residents and give an extra helping hand to those who need it. Services provided through our Community Services section include those for young people, older people and people with a disability, Indigenous and multicultural, and social support.

We also play a key role in planning for future services. Our social plan is a five year plan that aims to address social issues facing people who live, work and play in the Wollongong Local Government Area. These include safety, services and facilities, and culture.

As an offshoot of the social planning process, we have also designed and implemented an innovative community engagement framework which includes a policy, principles, standards, protocols and a range of methods to improve the way we consult the community.
