Youth services
Wollongong Youth Services is an important part of Council. We provide programs and services for young people 12-25 years in the Wollongong Local Government Area at two venues:
- Wollongong Youth Centre (WYC)
- Kemblawarra Lakes Heights & WarrawongYouth Centre (KLAW)
Our aim is to work with young people of diverse backgrounds in a safe, friendly and supportive manner.
Our team consists of a coordinator, three youth development workers, administration support and casual staff.
Youth Committee
Wollongong Youth Services are looking for motivated and energetic young people aged 12 – 24yrs who want to join our Youth Committee to run events and activities. Young people need to either live, work or study within the Wollongong LGA. Please contact Youth Services for an application form.
Supervision
All activities at the Youth Centre and forecourt area are fully supervised.
Staff, including tutors, are guided by policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people.
Young people at the Youth Centre are expected to observe the following:
- no drugs or alcohol allowed;
- people under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be denied entry;
- no smoking inside the centre;
- no physical or verbal abuse around the centre;
- no sexist, racist, homophobic or offensive comments or behaviour.
