Draft Local Environmental Plan - Darcy Wentworth Park
Council has extended the exhibition period for the community to comment on a draft Local Environmental Plan which proposes the reclassification of part of the car park within Darcy Wentworth Park from community land to operational land, to enable 54 spaces in the car park to be leased. The income from the lease is proposed to be spent on improving Darcy Wentworth Park facilities.
Council is also exhibiting a draft Deed Poll for the site. The Deed Poll is a public undertaking by Council declaring Council’s intent to remain the registered land owner and directs the use of funds received from the leasing of the car park area.
The draft Local Environmental Plan and draft Deed Poll are on exhibition from 12 January 2009 to 27 March 2009. Submissions close on 27 March 2009.
A second public meeting with an independent facilitator will be held on Tuesday 10 March 2009 commencing at 6pm in the Level 10 Committee Room 2 and 3 at Council’s Administration Building (Burrelli Street, Wollongong) to discuss the reclassification of the Council land to operational land in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.
Any person before the closing date shown above may make a submission for or against the draft plan. Where a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds for objection should be specified in the submission. Please note that submissions become public documents and may be viewed by other persons on request.
