Cordeaux Road Bridge, Figtree

Failing Cordeaux Road Bridge

The Cordeaux Road Bridge in Figtree has been reopened to traffic two weeks ahead of schedule (on 13 May 2009).

Following a four month road closure, Wollongong City Council has demolished and replaced the Cordeaux Road Bridge with a higher and wider bridge that includes a shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists.

Replacing the Cordeaux Road Bridge was a priority for Council to ensure the safety and convenience of residents for years to come.

Council would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation over the past few months while a detour was in place to allow for construction of the bridge.  The location of the bridge and the alternate access route is shown on the document to the right The Cordeaux Road Bridge replacement was funded through the Federal Government’s billion dollar Roads to Recovery Fund.
