Glenlea Street, Corrimal

Council issued development and building application approvals in 1993 and 1994 for the construction of two dwellings, vehicular access and associated works on Lot 21 DP 838638 which is situated west of Glenlea Street and Coxs Avenue, Corrimal. Construction of the dwellings and access driveway was physically commenced, but has not been completed and the dwellings have not been occupied.

At its meeting of 23 July 2008, Council resolved to amend Draft LEP 2009 by retaining the existing zoning boundary for Lot 21 DP 838638 Glenlea Street, Corrimal as contained within Wollongong LEP 1990. A copy of the Administrators Minute and Council minutes are available on the right.

Administrators subsequently requested the General Manager to seek agreement from a General Manager of another major Council, to provide on secondment or other arrangement, a senior person to evaluate this matter. A Senior Planner from Sutherland Shire Council has now completed an independent review of the development assessment process. Council has engaged the services of consultants to provide geotechnical and structural engineering advice as required by Council's resolution. These reports are provided in full on the right. Council is now considering the findings in these reports.

The community can lodge submissions on the zoning and planning controls that apply to the site as part of the draft Wollongong Local Environmental Plan 2009. Submissions should be lodged by 31 March 2009.

A public meeting to discuss the Independent Report and the implementation of its recommendations was held on Thursday 5 March 2009 at Corrimal Community Centre - Grevillea Hall No.1 (Short St Corrimal) commencing at 7pm. 75 residents attended.
