Threatened species
The Wollongong LGA currently contains 18 Endangered Ecological Communities (EECs). EECs are prescribed under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995, and the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The following table lists the EECs known to occur in Wollongong Local Government Area. Informatiion about these communities can be found on the Department of Environment and Conservation (NSW) website.

Impacts to EECs
A licence may be required under section 91 of the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 if a development or activity is likely to harm a threatened species, population or EEC or damage their habitat.
