The Skinny Girl book cover

​Join Australian author Steve Matthews as he discusses The Skinny Girl. This raw and powerful novel explores the topic of domestic violence, the ways attitudes, values and culture contribute to adbuse, and the path to change.

With over 25 years' association with the Homicide Victims Support Group, Matthews has found that there are stories of silence surrounding domestic violence and emotional abuse that need to be told.

Practical Parenting






EARLY PARENTING INFORMATION SESSIONS
Join us for one, or both, parenting information sessions presented by Illawarra Early Parenting Centre, Figtree Private Hospital.

Sleep and Settling: develop effective sleeping patterns from birth and beyond
Learn how to develop sleep patterns from the first few weeks through to two years of age. This session will cover appropriate guidelines, routines and settling techniques, so that you are well equipped to manage one of the most common parenting challenges – sleep!

A Practical Guide to Introducing Solids
Learn how to approach introducing purees, finger food and other age appropriate foods for your little one; how to deal with fussy eaters and get tips for creating enjoyable meal times for the whole family. This session also includes some quick and easy recipes to try at home.

There will be Q&A time with the Nurse Unit Manager and staff following each presentation.

Digital Literacy for Older Australians
The Be Connected program and the Office of the eSafety Commissioner want to hear from older Australians (60+) who aren't online, or who are not confident online. They want to find out what they can do to help make it easier to learn to stay safe online when using your device/s, banking online, or accessing health and government services online.
 
Come and join a fun, relaxed and easy-going discussion to share your views. As a thank you participants will recieve a $100 Coles Myer gift card*

Robert Holden has had a distinguished career as a librarian, curator, writer and book reviewer. He is the author of more than 30 books and has been awarded a Senior Fellowship by the Literature Board of the Australia Council. He is particularly recognised for his pioneering research on Australian children's book illustration.

Ali Whitelock
 
Join Alison Whitelock for an interesting discussion about her published works. Ali is a Scottish poet and writer living on the south coast of Sydney with her chain-smoking French husband.
 
Her debut poetry collection, 'and my heart crumples like a coke can' has just been released and her memoir, 'poking seaweed with a stick and running away from the smell' was launched to critical acclaim in Australia and the UK in 2010.

Come along and meet successful local author Dell Brand as she discusses her latest novel, Journey into Darkness.
Readers are transported through history following the adventures of a tenacious woman named Kit Markham. This historical fiction is a beautiful and compelling story set in Melbourne, England and America.
Journey into Darkness is the third title in the trilogy, continuing the story that began with A Voice to be Heard and Cry to the Wind.

Green Team Workshops
Improve the health of your garden and deter nasty garden pests.  Instead of wasting valuable garden and food scraps by throwing them into the bin, reuse this resource and turn it into your own 100% locally grown dirt which will make your garden, vegetables and flowers thrive.
As a bonus, each registered workshop participant will be able to receive a FREE compost bin or worm farm to take home.*

Susie will share some fun, self-deprecating stories about bein a beauty queen, radio host, TV star and accomplished author. She has interviewed some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and will dish the dirt on the divas, bad boys and those too precious to handle, along with some poignant 'behind the scenes' insights into the world of Aussie show business.
