Composting Awareness Month ​ ​

To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week (5-11 May 2019) Council’s Green Team are hosting FREE workshops to demonstrate how easy it is to reprocess your food waste. As a bonus, each registered workshop participant will be able to receive either a FREE compost bin, worm farm or bokashi bin to take home.*

BOKASHI WORKSHOP

WORM FARMING WORKSHOP

Improve the health of your garden and deter nasty garden pests.  Instead of wasting valuable garden and food scraps by throwing into the bin, reuse this resource and turn it into your own 100% locally grown dirt which will make your garden, vegetables and flowers thrive.
 
COMPOSTING WORKSHOP
Saturday 11 May, 10am-12noon

 

*Attendees should be 18 years and over.  Only one workshop may be attended – either Bokashi, Worm Farm or Composting.  Limit of one bokashi bin, compost bin or worm farm per household. The FREE compost or worm farm giveaway is only applicable to Wollongong City Council residents who have not received a free one already from prior workshops.

Author Talk: Susan McCreery

​​Join us to listen to Thirroul local, Susan McCreery, talk about her short fiction work. Her book Loopholes is a collection of microfictions, or flash fictions, that show humans at their most hilarious, vulnerable and offbeat. 
 
Her other works include a collection of poetry, Waiting for the Southerly (2012) and she will be releasing a collection of longer stories, This Person Is Not That Person, in mid-2019.

A Morning with Walter Mason ​ ​

​​Walter Mason returns to discuss E. F. Benson's writing, his life and he reasons behind his small but enduring cult following.

The Lucia novels are Benson's most celebrated creations. Set among the overly-genteel but constantly impoverished upper-middle-classes in small-town Southern England, the six books feature the monstrous Lucia, a provincial snob, and her plump foil and sworn best enemy Miss Mapp.

Clued-In Youth Mystery Event

​You're invited to participate in a murder mystery game that takes the classic game of Clue off the board and into a real life scavenger hunt.
 
Players will get a chance to bribe, blackmail, gamble, steal, form alliances and more all in a race to discover who killed Mr. Boddy, where they did it and what they did with it.
