Clean Up Australia Day 2011
 

Do your bit to help keep the Illawarra beautiful and join in this annual clean up that's held on the first weekend in March. Clean up efforts focus on removing rubbish from stormwater drains and watercourses, which lead to larger waters, and bushlands used for recreation purposes.

Clean Up Australia Day is fun, easy and everyone can take part. Individuals and community groups can either organise a clean up site or volunteer to join an existing site.

Wet Weather arrangements

In the event of rain, it is expected that most clean ups will still go ahead. However, we're asking anyone participating in clean ups to avoid waterways such as creeks or stormwater channels due to the risk of flash flooding.

Friday 1 March

  • Coledale Beach/Campground -10.30 – 11.30am

Saturday 2 March

  • Bellambi Lagoon: meet beside the Lagoon opposite Happy Valley Park East Corrimal - 8am – 10am
  • Fairy Meadow SLSC-  9am – 12pm
  • Port Kembla – Honey Comb Rocks (meet car park near water treatment plant) - 8am
  • Warrawong - Lake Illawarra Foreshore near the Illawarra Rowing Centre Northcliffe Dr - 10am – 12pm
  • Wollongong Harbour, Belmore Basin-  9am – 1pm

Sunday 3 March 

  • Bellambi Beach: look for the Layback Longboarders tent - 8:30am 10am
  • Berkeley : Hooka Point Park, meet at picnic table near Sussex & Holborn St - 9am - 1pm
  • Berkeley: Boat Ramp near Fish market - 9am – 11am
  • Bulli Beach: near mouth of Slacky Creek - 5pm – 6pm
  • Bulli: Whartons Creek meet at Bridge between Artist & Bennalong St - 9am -12pm
  • Coalcliff: Surf Life Saving Club  - 10am – 1pm
  • Coledale: Surf Life Saving Club 11am-1pm
  • Dapto: McDonalds - 1:30pm- 3:30pm
  • Figtree Oval: Leash Free Park meet at the Blue Bin - 8am – 11am
  • Helensburgh: Old Doctor Surgery Parks St -  10 am – 1pm
  • Kanahooka Park Lakeside Dr: meet seating area near Public Toilets - 8:30 – 11am
  • Keiraville: Bushland opposite Cato Pl - 9am – 11am
  • Lilyvale: North Era Surf Life Saving Club - 10am – 2pm
  • North Wollongong: Puckeys Estate near the boardwalk  - 9am – 12pm
  • Otford: Tennis Courts - 8am
  • Port Kembla: MM Beach (meet corner of Darcy Rd & Gloucester Blvd - 8:30am – 10:30am
  • Primbee: Purry Burry Point - 9.30am-1.30pm
  • Thirroul: Community Garden Cnr High St & Lawrence Hargrave Dr - 9.30am-1pm
  • Thirroul: Sylvan Way Fire Trail/gate near 49 Foothills Rd - 8:40 for a 9am start -11am
  • Warrawong: Lake Illawarra Forewshore, King St Carpark (Harvey Norman) - 10am-2pm
