Australia Day 2026: Road Closures

To keep everyone safe during our Australia Day event, the following roads will be closed from 4pm until 10pm:

• Cliff Road between Marine Drive and Georges Place
• Harbour Street between Market Street and Cliff Road
• Hector Street
• Hinton Street
• Campbell Street from Corrimal Street
• Wilson Street from Smith Street
• Smith Street between Corrimal Street and Harbour Street
• Market Place.

The following roads will be closed from 8pm until 10pm for the fireworks display:

• Marine Drive from Crown Street roundabout
• Endeavour Drive
• Crown Street from Harbour Street to Marine Drive
• Parkside Avenue.

Managed access will be available for residents and accessible drop-off / parking throughout the event.

Wollongong Aquathon road closure

Please note, as well as the road closures above for Council's community event, Cliff Road from Georges Place to Harbour Street will be closed from 6.30am until 12.30pm for the Wollongong Aquathon.

Car park closures

The following car parks will be closed to support the running of our Australia Day community event:

• Wollongong Harbour car park - closed from 5am to 10pm
• Flagstaff Hill car parks (three levels) - closed from 12pm to 10pm
• Marine Drive car park next to Lang Park (former bus layover) - closed from 5am to 10pm.
