Children and Babies

We understand that the death of a child or baby is a devastating experience like no other for any parent or guardian, as well as their family and friends.

Our staff are here to help you create a lasting memorial for you to visit and remember your child.

Memorial sites

Sites recommended for baby or child memorials are shown below. However, you can also consider our full range of memorial options, including sites suitable for multiple family members.

Burial sites

We have a dedicated section for babies and children up to 12 years old at Wollongong Lawn Cemetery. You can also view our full list of burial sites for more options.

Call us on (02) 4227 7780 for more information, or for assistance selecting a special place for your child.

Wollongong Cemetery Stillborn Memorial Garden

Sadly many babies were buried in Wollongong Cemetery from the 1930s to the late 1960s without records kept of the location of the grave sites.

Parents who know that their baby is buried in Wollongong Cemetery but cannot identify the actual site can place a bronze plaque in the Stillborn Memorial Garden to commemorate their baby. Please contact us for details.

A commemorative service for all babies buried in the cemetery is held each year as a mark of respect and recognition. Everyone is welcome to attend - keep an eye on our calendar for details.
