Wollongong Senior Citizens Centre closes for update

Wednesday 25 September 2019

Exterior

We are refurbishing the Wollongong Senior Citizens Centre in Gipps Road, Gwynneville.

The centre—a large older style hall and office used for small functions, meetings, classes and community events—will be closed from Monday 30 September for works to refresh the centre.

As part of the project Council has been liaising with the neighbouring Workshop Theatre to ensure the troupe can continue to hold rehearsals and performances while work at the Seniors Centre is completed.

The centre’s hall is managed by the Spanish and Latin American Community Organisation, who will be providing their services and activities from Warrawong Community Centre during the works.

Work on the centre includes refurbishing the kitchen and toilets, installing energy efficient lighting systems, improving accessibility to the centre by installing a new entrance and front façade, removing the stage in the main hall and also relocating the centre’s office space. The centre is due to reopen in mid-2020.
