The Lord Mayor’s UCI Road World Championships Welcome Reception was held at the Music Lounge in Wollongong tonight and was organised by Wollongong City Council to acknowledge the many dignitaries in the city as part of the nine-day Championships event.

“This is an extraordinary week for our city and never before have we had the eyes of the world on us as we do now,’’ Wollongong Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“The motivation behind this event was to welcome these guests to our city and to thank them for their ongoing support.’’

The formalities included a Welcome to Country from Uncle Richard Davis, a performance from Gumarra, a welcome from the Lord Mayor and responses from the UCI President David Lappartient, AustCycling CEO Marne Fechner and Wollongong 2022 Chair Dean Dalla Vella.

The evening was bookended with performances from Wollongong-born indie-folk singer-songwriter Kay Proudlove.
