Community Sport

Training and competition fees waived

To support of our community and local sporting groups, we're waiving training and competition fees at our 220 sportsgrounds across the city between 1 July and 31 December 2021.

By waiving these fees, we're providing direct financial assistance to our local sporting clubs, many of which are volunteer-run and operate on a tight budget.

This will also help more people take part in sport and COVID-safe outdoor activities when Public Health Orders ease.

Please note, fee waivers only apply to training and standard competition. Fees will still apply to coaching clinics and acadamies.

For more information on sportsgrounds fee waivers, please email us.

Sportsgrounds lighting

We are turning lights on at selected Council sportsgrounds to give people more options to exercise outdoors while stay at home orders are in effect.

Lights will be turned on from 4.30 - 9pm (weather permitting) at these grounds:

  • Bellambi, Elizabeth Park
  • Fairy Meadow, Guest Park
  • Fairy Meadow, Thomas Dalton Park
  • Figtree, Harry Graham Park
  • Figtree Oval
  • Gwynneville, Wisemans Park
  • Helensburgh, Rex Jackson Oval
  • Judy Masters Park, Balgownie
  • Port Kembla, King George V Oval
  • Woonona, Hollymount Rugby and AFL

We will continue to review the use of lights based on people following NSW Health rules.

Please also note, community sport, including training and competition, is not allowed under current rules.
