Recycle this Christmas at the CRC

Friday 24 December 2021

Residents are encouraged to drop off extra recyclables – including Christmas cardboard packing – at Whyte’s Gully Community Recycling Centre.

The CRC is open every day of the year, except for Christmas. Wollongong residents can drop-off extra recycling waste, paper, steel cans, rigid plastic bottles, containers, paint, e-goods such as computers, televisions and printers, gas bottles, and white goods such as washing machines and microwaves – for free.

The reminder comes after the cancellation of cardboard drop-off opportunities in three locations. Household waste will continue to be collected, as normal, and for waste requests, you can contact Remondis on 1300 362 360 who will be operational on weekdays, excluding public holidays, to respond to customers’ calls regarding damaged bins and missed services.

For more information on what can and can’t be dropped-off at the CRC, visit our website.

“Let’s make a special effort this year to keep as much waste out of landfill as possible. We can all recycle more, and FOGO our food scraps as our Christmas gift to the environment,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“We ask that if you do visit our Waste Depot and Community Recycling Centre, please follow any NSW Public Health Rules that apply at the time of your visit. Wearing a face mask is strongly encouraged and we ask people to please consider others and maintain physical distancing where possible.”

You can also download the Wollongong Waste App to your phone to stay across your bin collection days and to book an On-call Household Clean-up.
