Easter opening hours for Council facilities

Thursday 1 April 2021

We’re expecting beautiful weather just in time for the Easter holidays.

With more people holidaying at home for the long weekend, we’re anticipating higher numbers of people visiting our beaches, parks and public spaces.

This also means our roads and parking areas will be busier.  We’re asking everyone to plan and leave time for travelling, be patient with those around them, especially in high pedestrian and cyclist areas.

We’ll have extra Council crews out and about over the long weekend to service our foreshore areas with additional waste collection and toilet cleaning.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM encouraged everyone to stay safe, enjoy the break and plan ahead.

“There will be a few changes to our opening hours for some of Council’s facilities and services over the Easter long weekend,” Cr Bradbery said.

“With warmer weather forecasted, we’re expecting our beaches and pools to be popular places for locals and visitors. We’re asking everyone to have fun but stay safe when in the water, follow the directions of lifeguards and lifesavers and swim between the flags.

“Whatever you plan to do this Easter, it’s always a good idea to plan ahead. That means making a pool booking before you arrive by using our free booking system, adding a little extra travel time when driving through busy areas and checking if facilities and businesses are open to avoid disappointment.”

To make a pool booking, visit our Book My Swim website.

Council is working with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and will have variable messaging boards in key locations entering Wollongong to alert visitors to possible traffic delays and congestion around some foreshore areas. Our Compliance Officers will be on duty to manage parking at these sites.

“I’d also like to remind everyone to continue to stay COVID-safe this Easter and school holidays,” Cr Bradbery said.

“Holidays are a time to relax but that doesn’t mean we stop taking care of one another. Please continue to follow the NSW Public Health orders, wash your hands or use hand sanitiser, keep 1.5 metres away from others and stay home if you’re feeling unwell.”

Stay safe this Easter and Council will return to normal operational hours on Tuesday 6 April.
