Put symptoms to the test

Tuesday 5 January 2021

Feeling under the weather? Get COVID tested!

Wollongong City Council is encouraging everyone in our community to be COVID-conscious and to be proactive when it comes to getting tested.

By working together, and ensuring people get tested for even the most minor of symptoms, we can support our whole community, including our most vulnerable.

“To date we have been fortunate and have not seen or experienced the rates of infection that we’ve seen overseas including in the UK that is now going into its toughest lockdown since last March 2020,’’ Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“We need to keep focussed on doing the right thing, and in doing so we will support our local businesses and economy. By wearing masks when you’re in public spaces, by staying home if you’re unwell, and by getting tested if you’re showing any COVID-19 symptoms you’re doing your bit to support our community.

“It’s essential we are proactive. If we all work together we will be able to control this virus and still enjoy the amenities of the city, and support local businesses.’’

Council is asking anyone over 12 years to wear a mask when visiting a Council facility such as our libraries, community centres or Customer Service Centre, the Wollongong Art Gallery or Beaton Park or Lakeside Leisure Centre’s entryways, change rooms, waiting areas or customer service areas.

NSW Health has a range of advice on mask wearing including when and where you are required to under the NSW Public Health Order, as well as how to put them on safely and make your own reusable cloth mask.
