Nominations open for Youth Week Awards

Monday 6 March 2023

To coincide with April’s NSW Youth Week, Wollongong City Council is calling for nominations for the inaugural Wollongong Youth Week Awards.

This year’s NSW Youth Week theme is “Connect. Participate. Celebrate” and the awards will do just that, highlighting the achievements of young people aged 12 to 24 years who are positive role models and go the extra mile for the Wollongong community.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said this was a chance for parents, family members, neighbours, schools, and local services to nominate standout young people who they feel are worthy of recognition.

“Wollongong’s young people are our future community leaders, scientists, teachers, artists, employers, entrepreneurs and change makers, so it's imperative we encourage, recognise and continue to inspire them,” said Cr Bradbery.

Awards are available in nine categories:

  • Young Volunteer
  • Young Sportsperson
  • Young Performer
  • Young Artist
  • Young Community Ambassador
  • Young Environmentalist
  • Young Small Business
  • Young Innovator

Nominations are welcome through Council’s website until Friday 7 April 2023.

Winners will be announced during the Wollongong Youth Week Festivities, which will run between 20 and 30 April 2023 as part of the wider NSW Youth Week event.
