Congratulations to our Community Transport volunteers

We’re proud to congratulate our Community Transport Health Bus volunteers for winning the 2020 Illawarra Volunteer Team of the Year award.

Community Transport: Wollongong – Shellharbour is a Council run volunteer service that provides transport options for older people travelling around the Illawarra.

The Community Transport Health Bus Team was a joint winner of the Illawarra Volunteer Team of the Year award, sharing the spotlight with The Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra Bus Drivers.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM thanked all volunteers for their commitment to the community during the ongoing pandemic.

“Every week, the Community Transport Health Bus Team contributes hundreds of hours helping older people and people in need access appointments, go shopping and participate in their communities.

“I’d like to personally thank all of our volunteers who have continued to offer their services over the past few months. Thank you especially to our Community Transport volunteers who consistently deliver excellent service to some of our most isolated members of the community.”

The 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards are supported by principal partners the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and ClubsNSW, which represents the state’s 1,400 not-for-profit clubs.
