Free photo shoot session as part of the Grateful Portrait Project

Friday 18 September 2020

We’re calling for people aged 12 to 24 to take part in the Grateful Portrait Project by submitting a photograph that reflects on the best of 2020.

Wollongong City Council will select 18 images as part of the project to form an exhibition in Crown Street Mall during this year’s holiday season.

If you don’t have access to a camera to take part, don’t worry! We’re offering a free professional photo shoot session on Saturday 19 September at Warrawong Plaza.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that photography is a great creative tool for young people to share their experiences and thoughts with the broader community.

“The Grateful Portrait Project asks all of us to take a moment to pause and reflect upon this year and share the things that we are most grateful for,” said Councillor Bradbery.

“I know it has been a tough and testing year but there is a lot of theory out there that suggests that focussing on the positive can improve your overall wellbeing and at this challenging time, it can be easy to overlook the good things.

“Sessions for the free professional photo shoot are limited as bookings are made on a first come, first served basis, so get in quick so you don’t miss out.”

To have your portrait considered for the exhibition, submit a portrait of yourself or someone else and complete the statement “I am grateful for …” to our website.

The deadline for entries for the Grateful Portrait Project is midnight on Friday 25 September 2020.

Visit our website for more details on how to enter and the terms and conditions .
