Hockey Dad tune in online to chat with local fans

Monday 20 September 2021

Hockey Dad have joined forces with Council’s Youth Services team to give something back to their local music fans.

On Thursday 30 September, the Australian surf rock band will jump online to speak directly with their fans as part of a Q&A session to answer questions about their music career, how they got started and share tips for young up and comers.

Young people can register now to attend this free online event which includes the live Q&A session and Hockey Dad trivia competition run by Wollongong Youth Services team.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that it was great to see the popular Windang band reach out to their local community during lockdown.

“With live music off the table for the moment, it’s nice to see such a popular band give something back to the music fans who have watched them grow from garage-rock royalty to local superstars,” Cr Bradbery said.

“Council is pleased to be able to support our local musicians and creative community by offering opportunities such as this one. If you’re looking for something different to try, I encourage you to register to attend this free online event.”

With a career spanning two studio albums and an EP, Hockey Dad have just recently released their much-anticipated 3rd studio album ‘Brain Candy’. The record was Triple J’s feature album and charted at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart (behind Taylor Swift) and #1 on AUS ARIA Album chart and Vinyl Chart - the band's second Top 10 ARIA record!

The Hockey Dad – Live Q&A is targeted towards young people aged 12-24years. The event will be co-hosted by Council and young, local musician, Orlando Bardevski. There will be a Farmer & The Owl prize to be won.

Run by host Tom Hogan (artist, musician and podcaster) with presenters, Sophie McComish (Body Type), Aidan Whitehall (aodhan) and Ben Tilman (Yours and Owls).
