Your library gives you access to online newspapers, journals and magazine articles, as well as up-to-date information on a broad range of subjects.

NewsBank

NewsBank provides you with online access to some of the most popular national and local newspapers, such as The Sydney Morning Herald and Illawarra Mercury. You can also access 13,000+ international NewsBank licensed newspapers. This database also allows you to search by topic, event, or for individual articles.

Gale

Gale is our online research platform, which lets you search for information across a wide range of interest areas. You can search Gale's databases for biographies, environmental studies, global issues, opposing viewpoints, science and world history.

Uncover your past and take your genealogy research to the next level with access to billions of historical documents from more than 48 countries as well as millions of historical photos, public records, indexes and additional resources.

MyHeritage can be accessed from anywhere so you can conduct your genealogy research from the comfort of home.

Choice online

Find product and service reviews, consumer rights information and more. Choice online includes all of the content in Choice magazine and Computer Choice magazine, plus interactive data and special features.

The Source

The Source is a subject guide to children's literature maintained by Magpies Magazine. It features databases of mostly Australian and New Zealand literature, with information on books, authors, awards, and a focus on poetry and short stories.

Ancestry library edition

Discover your ancestors with the world's largest family history website. Ancestry can only be accessed using computers within our libraries.

British Newspaper Archive

Up to 40 million newspaper pages from the British Library's collection have been digitised in the British Newspaper Archive. You will need to register to use this service.

FamilySearch

One of the largest genealogy organisations in the world, offering access to billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land and court records from more than 130 countries. FamilySearch can be accessed with a free account remotely, however using it via the public computers within our libraries offers access to additional records.

Findmypast

A worldwide family history research platform, with birth, marriage and death indexes, census information and other resources from more than 120 countries. Findmypast can only be accessed using computers within our libraries. No more than two users can log in to this platform at any time.

State Library NSW eResources

As a member of Wollongong City Libraries, you can access the State Library NSW eResources. Have your membership card number ready to use this site.

Trove

Trove is a resource sharing platform developed by the National Library of Australia. It includes books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more.
