Request for Reconsideration of Resources

From time-to-time, it may be necessary to review whether a library item should be removed or replaced from the Wollongong City Libraries collection.

The library has a responsibility to offer a wide range of materials that reflect the interests of our community. Library staff choose items based on their professional knowledge and experience. As long as an item does not have a federal or state restriction or prohibition placed on it and meets the library’s selection guidelines, it won’t be excluded because of its moral, political, racial, or religious content alone.

Library users have the right to make their own choices about what they read, watch, or listen to—and that includes decisions for their children. Parents and guardians have the right to guide their own children’s use of the library, but they also need to respect the rights of other families to do the same.

We value your feedback and ask you to fill out this form to help us review your request.

The information you provide will be reviewed by the Coordinator of Collections, using our established guidelines for choosing and managing library materials.

If a library item has already been reviewed and found suitable for the collection, it won’t be reviewed again for at least 3 years—unless its classification changes.
