Children's Book Week® has been a fixture of Australia's literary landscape since 1945. Each year the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) highlights the importance of reading by showcasing Australian children’s books, authors, and illustrators.

Wollongong City Libraries celebrates Children's Book Week® by featuring colourful displays, developing activities, running competitions, and telling stories relating to the Children’s Book Week theme.

Book Week Art Competition 2023
This year we invited primary school students in years K-6 to create an original artwork inspired by the CBCA Book Week theme: Read, Grow, Inspire.
There were 13 prizes on offer - years K-2 first place and runner up, years 3-4 first place and runner up, years 5-6 first place and runner up, and 7 highly commended (one per WCL library location). Winners were announced 17 August, 2023.
