Community update on West Dapto roads during wet weather

West Dapto Road at Kembla Grange has remained open throughout this weather event.

While there has been water pooling over the road during heavy rain spells, it is consistent with water levels on other known water pooling hotspots across the city, and the level of water has not necessitated a full closure.

We’re working closely with the SES on the management of this stretch of road during rain events.

Should we reach a water level that is unsafe and requires the closure of West Dapto Road at Kembla Grange for standard cars, an SES high clearance vehicle will be positioned at the closure to ensure emergency services access is maintained.

We appreciate there are community concerns about the weather, particularly with the full closure of a section of West Dapto Road in place. The decision to have a full closure to allow the works to be fast-tracked was not made lightly. We have robust plans in place to support emergency access throughout the closure period.
