Pest Animals
Pest animals can damage land and buildings, cause health problems, and compete with native animals for food and shelter.
Managing pest animals is difficult, and it’s not something Council can do alone. We work with other government bodies, landowners and volunteers to try and reduce problems caused by certain types of pest animals in our area.
In some cases, the number of animals is so large we can’t eliminate them. When that happens, we try to reduce their impact on public spaces.
In dealing with pest animals, we follow the State Government’s South East Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan. This helps to make sure our work supports the actions of other local groups who are also trying to deal with pests.
