Learn how to do business with Council and help service your community

Thursday 23 October 2025

Wondering how your business can provide goods and services to Council?

On Monday 27 October, we’re inviting local businesses to attend a free information session to learn more about the opportunities and expectations supplying goods and services to Wollongong City Council.

This includes any businesses that are considering submitting quotes or tenders for Council contracts such as building and construction, consulting and professional services, goods and materials supply and Local Government Procurement contracts.

The session will cover topics on our Infrastructure Delivery Program and our procurement processes and framework. Local Government Procurement will also present on the opportunities in local government across NSW.

Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown is encouraging local businesses to come along to the information session.

“This is an exciting chance for people to get an insight on what it means to work with Council and how they can be part of it,” she said.

"We know that applying for a government tender or quote may seem overwhelming. So, this session is to provide transparency about doing business with Council and break down those barriers.

“But most importantly we’re reminding local businesses that by providing goods and services to Council, you are doing something that will improve your community’s everyday lives.”

Wollongong City Council General Manager Greg Doyle looks forward to the session’s fifth iteration and appreciates the local business community’s ongoing interest.

“We place great value in the strength of our local businesses and their contribution to our city’s economic growth, which reflects in our Procurement Policies local content weighting” he said.

“As an integral part of our community, we’re committed to fostering our relationships with our local businesses and creating opportunities to get them involved in our procurement and supply process.

“This free session is one way we can support this commitment. It’s been great to receive positive feedback over the years about how its improved people’s understanding of government processes and I look forward to building on this.”

There will be an opportunity for Q&A during the session. All businesses that register for the event will receive a follow up email with key resources.

The event will be delivered in a hybrid format. This means you can either attend online or in-person. We encourage you to secure your free spot via Eventbrite.
