City of Wollongong

Wollongong City Council is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions within the Local Government Area and supporting residents in the switch to electric vehicles.

Council’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure on Public Land Policy PDF, 284.21 KB guides third-party providers to set up, operate and maintain charging equipment on Council-owned or managed land.

While these are the first kerbside EV charging stations installed in our city, they join two public fast chargers at Stewart Street East car park in Wollongong. There are 18 charging locations (as of December 2023) across the Wollongong City Council area.

You can visit Plugshare to find EV charging locations.

We hope to see more charging locations added in future, and will look for future funding opportunities through the NSW Government’s Electric vehicle destination charging grant program. Local businesses can also apply for this funding to assist with the installation of chargers.
