Green thumbs get ready! It’s sale time

Thursday 19 June 2025

Don’t let the cool weather put you off getting into the garden.

With the Wollongong Botanic Garden’s monthly Greenplan Plant Sale on tomorrow (Friday), and the End of Financial Year Plant sale on next Saturday 28 June, greenery is the hottest ticket in town.

Wollongong Botanic Garden Curator Felicity Skoberne said there were a wide range of plants on offer for both sales, and the Garden’s expert staff would be on hand to offer advice to gardeners.

“One of the great things about the Greenplan Plant Sales is you know that most of the plants available for purchase have been grown locally so they’re already accustomed to Wollongong’s climate,’’ she said.

“Plus, because our horticulturalists work locally they know the area really well and can provide advice around what are the best local trees, shrubs, ground covered and grasses to grow in your garden.’’

People can check out the Greenplan Plant Sale web page a week prior to each of the sales to see what’s available and the prices. At the 28 June sale, there will be 25 per cent off all plants.

For more information visit the Wollongong Botanic Garden website.

Please note:  This is a ratepayer subsidised service, so a current Wollongong City Council rates notice is required on the day as proof of residency.  If you rent in the area you will need to seek approval from your landlord. Ask them to write a letter of support for your garden plans and bring that along to our next Plant Sale so you can make a purchase.
