Social Media Community Guidelines

Wollongong City Council manages a number of social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Our social media channels aim to inform, educate and inspire our community. We take a respectful and positive approach to all of our community engagement and communications. We are here to support our community and highlight the work we all do to make this an extraordinary city to live work and play.

Council's responsibilities

Wollongong City Council is committed to delivering a quality user interaction through our social media channels. We understand that our followers and users of our channels have an expectation that they can interact with Council in a way that allows them to receive timely information and voice their opinion on community matters.

Our interaction online is reflective of our organisational values. We aim to deliver information and interact with users in a friendly, knowledgeable and professional manner by being respectful and ensuring accuracy of information we deliver.

We acknowledge the diversity of our communities and understand that all members of the public have individual opinions, rights and needs and we will act with proper regard and sensitivity. We will provide clear and logical means for users to access services, facilities and information including assistance where necessary to lodge requests or provide feedback.

Wollongong City Council does not accept responsibility for community comments – they are not representative of the opinions of Wollongong City Council, nor do we make any warranty to their accuracy.
