Preparing for rain: sandbags

Rainfalls have been forecast for our area in coming days. To help residents prepare, we're providing sand to five locations across the city to help residents fill their own sandbags and prepare their properties. The SES will supply bags at these locations, but we know these run out quickly.

Sand will be available at these locations while supplies last:

  • Bellambi Boat Ramp Overflow carpark
  • Fairy Meadow Beach carpark
  • Fred Finch Park carpark, Berkeley
  • Rex Jackson Oval, Walker Street, Helensburgh
  • Kanahooka Park carpark, Kanahooka Rd, Dapto

You'll need to bring a shovel and your own bags. If you don't have hessian bags, 'green' supermarket bags can also be effective.

For more advice about preparing for heavy rain, visit the SES website.

Dangerous trees in storms

During a storm, if a tree is an immediate threat to people or property, emergency authorities like the SES can do work to make the tree safe.

For details see our Trees on Your Property page.
