Level 9 of the Council building was packed yesterday afternoon (Thursday 18 May) with 180 in person and online participants dropping in and logging on to learn more about how their businesses can benefit from working with Council.

The well-attended Doing Business with Council Information Session was a chance to simplify and explain Council’s tendering and procurement processes, clarify the rules around WHS compliance and shed light on pre-qualification requirements.

“We were pleased to see the level of interest from our local business community in this free information session. It really goes to show the diversity of business offerings right here in our city and it’s great to see so many people learn more about how they can apply to work with Council,’’ Wollongong City Council General Manager Greg Doyle said.

“As part of our commitment to supporting a strong local economy, we apply a weighting to applications from local businesses during a formal quotation and tender process. This helps us support the city’s diverse local enterprises.

“Thank you to everyone who attended in person, and to the many more people who jumped online to view the information session. As we prepare to roll our Council’s draft Infrastructure Program over the next few years there will be many opportunities for local businesses to work with us to make our city a great place to live.”

Consultation on the draft Infrastructure Delivery Program, has ended. You can still view a copy by visiting the Our Wollongong website.

Missed out on attending? The recording from the Information Session will be uploaded soon on the Doing Business with Council webpage.
