Bike City

Wollongong. Australia's only UCI Bike City

Wollongong was given the prestigious UCI Bike City label in early 2021 in recognition of our long-term commitment to cycling.

The Bike City Label is awarded by the world governing body of cycling, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

The label is only given to cities that show a long-term commitment to supporting cycling at all levels. To be eligible, cities also need to host a UCI cycling event, such as the 2022 UCI Road World Championships, which came to Wollongong in September 2022!

Wollongong is now one of only 20 Bike Cities around the world, including Vancouver, Paris, Copenhagen and Glasgow. We're proud to be the first Australian city, and the first regional city, to receive this prestigious label.

Creating our Bike City

We're excited to get people of all ages and abilities cycling across our city. From your first-ever ride through to commuters and athletes, we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy bike riding and build their skills.

We're creating new places for you to ride, and improving bike infrastructure.

And we're sharing the love with cycling events, celebrations, bike-inspired public art, and more!
