Can’t wait 'til Comic Gong? Here’s how you can get your fix early

Wollongong’s favourite comic and pop culture festival is returning Saturday 11 May, with a free one-day celebration of comics, cosplay, gaming, and pop culture!

While you count down the days to the big event, Wollongong City Libraries is hosting several free activities and events for people of all ages.

“Comic Gong is one of the city’s most-loved, free community events that brings together people of all ages and interests to celebrate their love of comics, gaming, and pop culture,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

“This year’s festival is bringing back the Comic Gong festival you know and love so our message for now is for people to save the date – Saturday 11 May and get ready for a fabulous family day out.

“In the meantime, while we get ready for the festival, we’re hosting several free activities which are sure to interest our community. From themed family trivia nights to Marvel Escape Room adventures to Cosplay catchups, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as we get into the swing of Comic Gong.”

Ages 12-24

Comic Gong Presents... Cosplay Catchup - Wollongong Youth Centre

3 May, 4-8pm

Wollongong Youth Centre is throwing a Comic Gong pre-party! Dress in cosplay and compete in the cosplay competition, listen to live music, play games and hang out with old and new friends.

No bookings required, just drop by.

18+ only

Comic Gong Presents... May the 4th Be With You Star Wars Trivia - Wollongong Library

4 May, 6-8pm

Calling all rebels, jedi and sith masters! Join us on Saturday the 4th of May for a Star Wars Trivia. Test your knowledge and show off your cosplay in teams of up to 6 people. Prizes to be won, and snacks and drinks to be enjoyed!

Marvel Escape Room – Wollongong Library

22 – 24 April, 10.15am-8pm

Solve puzzles and mysteries in our Marvel-themed escape room!

Teams of up to 5 people can book in for specific time slots over three days. Costumes are not required but are highly recommended.

All ages are welcome, but people aged 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.

Comic Gong Presents... Doctor Who Family Trivia - Corrimal Library

26 April, 5.30-7pm

Calling all Whovians! Where are you, what do you know, how well do you know it?

To kick off the school holidays, come along and join us for a family friendly evening of trivia about all things Doctor Who related. There are cool prizes to win, and tasty pizza to be eaten. Book as a group or family and select the number of tickets required; or book as an individual if you just want to Who it alone!
