Drugs and alcohol have a big impact on the safety of our community. There are a number of programs in place to try and address this complex issue, and make our city safer.
Seven areas across Wollongong have been declared Alcohol Free Zones.
You are not allowed to drink alcohol in public places within these zones. Police can enforce these rules.
We review the areas that are Alcohol Free Zones every four years.

- Pioneer Park, Wollongong
- Towradgi Park, Towradgi
- Thirroul Surf Club, Thirroul
- Windang Surf Club, Windang
- Stuart Park, North Wollongong (exceptions are made for some major events with Council's approval only)
- Stanwell Park, Stanwell Park.
Our Local Liquor Accord is an industry-based group that works to reduce problems related to alcohol in our area. Members include Police, Council, and local liquor outlets and suppliers.
