Pop-Up Cycling Routes

In a first for our city, we're adding some pop-up (or pilot) cycling routes to make it safer and easier for you to ride on our roads.

To support this work, we're changing some on-road parking, adding traffic-calming measures, and turning some footpaths into shared paths for use by both pedestrians and cyclists.

These new routes started rolling out in early 2021. You can read more about the work we're doing for this project by selecting a suburb below.

This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Wollongong City Council.

We developed this project after talking with the community about cycling in our city. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and ideas.

We're working to make the changes as smooth and safe as possible. Read our shared paths and separated cycleways pages for information about how to safely use these types of cycling routes.

Share your feedback

We're currently checking in with people about our pop-up cycleways. If you've used any of our pop-up cycleways, share your feedback by taking our online survey, or you can email or phone us on (02) 4227 7111.
