COVID-19 updates

  • Under NSW Public Health Orders, community sport, including training and matches, cannot go ahead in the Wollongong area. Please contact your club or association directly for updates on their activities.
  • To support of our community and local sporting groups, we're waiving training and competition fees at our sportsgrounds across the city between 1 July and 31 December 2021.
  • We are also turning lights on at selected Council sportsgrounds to give people more options to exercise outdoors while stay at home orders are in effect. For details see our COVID-19 support page.

We look after many sportsgrounds across our city.

We don't like closing sportsgrounds, but sometimes we need to for maintenance, events, or when play in wet weather could damage the surface. Clubs may also decide to cancel activities, even if Council hasn't closed grounds. Check with your sports club if you need to confirm whether play is going ahead.

Information about the sportsgrounds controlled by Council is shown below.
