Vera and Wilson Streets Helensburgh

Last update: 7 November 2024

We’re working on plans to repair the significant road damage at Vera and Wilson streets, Helensburgh, that was caused by the April natural storm disaster.

Vera Street is open to one-way traffic for access to the train station car park. We ask our community to please take care when driving in the area and follow on-site signage.

Right now, we are working on the designs for Stage 3 works which includes investigations to permanently restore Vera Street.

Stage 3 works are expected to be completed by winter 2026, weather and conditions dependent.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work through a complex project.

Project updates

We are currently working on the designs for Stage 3 works which includes investigations to permanently restore Vera Street.

Stage 3 works are expected to be completed by winter 2026, weather and conditions dependent.

The first phase of works to the road repairs is completed. One-way access is open to the train station carpark.

Sydney Water completed urgent works to the exposed pressurised sewer water main.

Since then, we took over the site to continue plans on road repairs and were investigating options on how we could reopen one lane for safe access.

During this time, we asked our community to please avoid the area, if possible, for their safety.

From April 6, the roads were closed with sections of the road surface washed away, and the adjoining embankments eroded.

To ensure the safety of our community, fencing was installed around the damaged road surface and put in place temporary traffic arrangements.
