Climate Change

In late 2019 and early 2020, bush fires burned across many parts of NSW and covered Wollongong in smoke. These fires were an important example of the kind of extreme events that will become more common in the years ahead due to climate change.

It is important that we work together to try and preserve the quality of life that we currently enjoy in Wollongong. We need to switch from carbon-producing forms of energy to renewable sources like solar, wind and batteries. We also need to begin adapting our city to the changes in our climate that can’t be avoided.
