Community Gardens

Community Gardens are run by not-for-profit groups and produce fresh, local food.

They also provide a great opportunity for you to learn new gardening skills and meet your neighbours.

The Australian City Farms and Community Gardens Network connects community gardeners around the country. They have great information about being part of a community garden group.

For a directory of community gardens in the Wollongong area, visit the Food Fairness Illawarra website.

Start a Community Garden

If you’re interested in setting up a new community garden on public land, you’ll need to get Council’s permission. You may also need a licence, Development Application or other approvals, depending on the site.

We can help guide you through this process - email or call us on (02) 4227 7111 to discuss your options.
