AT_Culture

AT_Culture provides a range of services focussed on educating young children about Aboriginal cultures of where they live.
Owner Adam Towney shares his vision for his business and the children he works with: “I travel around NSW teaching some of the fundamentals of Aboriginal Cultures (Wiradjuri, Dharawal and Yuin nations) to children in Early Stage One learning environments (ELCs, OOSH, Preschool and Primary School) and children in Out of Home Care.
"The fundamentals I teach and learn about are art, dance, music, and language. This teaching involves hands on activities for the children to complete which focuses on Aboriginal culture, team building, relationship building, building confidence, sensory play, fine and gross motor skills.
"I’m proud of the work I do and am fully invested in teaching our history and culture to all children.
"Every time we teach, at least one child is hearing the word “Aboriginal, Dharawal, Yuin, Dhurga, Wiradjuri” for the first time, “ochre” for the first time, “totem animal” for the first time, or hearing a “yidaki” (didgeridoo) for the first time.
"They immediately become interested in culture - the culture of where they live - they’re learning about this in their developmental ages where it will become a part of their identity they will begin conversations with friends, family and educators in the days, weeks, months after we have left the early learning centre wanting to know more.”
