Green Connect Farm and Op Shop
Green Connect's programs provide support for people in our community who face barriers to employment.
Green Connect's farm in Warrawong, and Op Shops in Unanderra and at the University of Wollongong, create training and social opportunities for former refugees, young and first nations people that build the confidence and pathways to long-term, meaningful employment.
Green Connect's programs aim to be socially and environmentally sustainable and you can support them through the Table to Plate farm fresh fruit and vegetable boxes, and opportunity store that even deconstructs unsellable items for recycling, featured below.
Green Connect Table to Plate
"Our Green Connect Farm in Warrawong produces weekly Veg Boxes brimming with fresh local produce grown using organic techniques.
"For your refreshments and inspiration we offer farm tours and children’s play days which allow you to experience life on the farm - meet our piglets, goats, chickens and the magical alpacas!
We also have a zero waste service that audits and educates businesses and events to reduce waste going into landfill.
"And don’t forget our Gardening and Landscaping team who can transform your spaces using the greenest methods available.
"All our businesses help support our employment pathways program which encourages former refugees, young and first nations people to overcome multiple barriers to find meaningful employment."
Green Connect Op Shops
"Did you know that most op shops send 70% of their donations to landfill? At Green Connect we recycle almost everything through our Op Shops in Unanderra and Wollongong University. It takes extra time and effort, but we believe it's worth it for the planet.
"We deconstruct unsellable donations down to the bare components then sort them into 55 waste streams, including hard metals, electronics, crockery and toys.
"At the University of Wollongong campus, there’s a free bus right to our playful LGBTQIA+ friendly space, where colourful displays and playlists are designed for snappy browsing between lectures.
"The beautifully curated range at Unanderra, presided over by our knowledgeable, friendly staff and volunteers, includes our popular clothes and books."
