Meet Shontelle. She’s a lifelong learner.
Shontelle is studying social work. She was a hairdresser but wanted to do something more meaningful for the last 20 years of her working life.
Her study is supported by her social work internship at Wollongong City Council. This placement has demonstrated to Shontelle that community services isn’t just about serving individuals, but about supporting and empowering a whole community through programs and services.
She really enjoys delivering services that provide respite for the carers of people living with dementia.
Even though she is not a hairdresser anymore, Shontelle still expresses herself through her hair and changes it often.
